If you are using points for a conference, the points will be due by the end of the semester that the conference is in. For example, the Women Surveyors Conference is in September, so points are due by the end of fall semester. Geoweek is in February, so those points would be due at the end of Spring semester.

Fall semester (Summer + Fall) points are earned from May 1- December 31. Spring semester points are earned from January 1- April 30. This means that if you earn points in the fall, you cannot use them to go to a conference in the spring. When you "use points" for something, you keep the points. For example, if there were 2 conferences in the same semester that each cost 3 points, if you had 3 points, you could hypothetically go to both.

Because GSA does not have unlimited money, having points will not guarentee your spot. GSA will do their best to pay for anyone who has the points and is interested in attending. The process for deciding on who gets to attend a meeting goes as follows: The president sends out an interest form with a due date. When that due date is reached, the president calculates how much the event will cost per person. The president determines if GSA has enough money to pay for all of the people interested, if it is feasible after fundraising, etc. Officers and advisors discuss how many people GSA can pay for. Everyone who was interested is made aware that if they attend the conference, they will have to earn a certain amount of points by the end of the semester. Whomever still wants to go at that point should hopefully be able to attend. If funding limits the amount of people, GSA will take into account how many points each person has and if they have already gone to similar events. In the case this should happen, GSA will be completely transparent about the process. Normally, GSA does have enough money to pay for all of the attendees. Be aware that your personal fundraising may make an event possible for you to attend. The general requirements for GSA to fund you still apply: must be a bachelors of Geomatics student, must be an undergrad, must be a current student.
